Este modelo lo adquirí de segunda mano de un colega marplatense. Ya tenía algunas de sus piezas pegadas -lo que me ahorró un poco de trabajo-. El kit es algo viejo y presenta algunas deficiencias en cuanto a la calidad del moldeado de las piezas y detalles pero, de todas formas, con un poco de trabajo se lo puede mejorar. Para ello me hice del set de fotograbados Japanese Battleships #2 de Tom's Modelworks.
I bought this model in secondhand from a colleague from Mar del Plata. The ship already had some of the pieces attached -which saved me some work. The kit is old and has some defects in terms of the quality of the molding and details but, however, with a little work it can be improved. For that purpose I got the PE set Japanese Battleships #2 from Tom's Modelworks.

En primer lugar lo que hice fue regrabar toda la tablazón de las cubiertas, que eran erróneas. Además corregí el perfil de la proa y la popa, quité las anclas grabadas en el plástico y añadí algunos detalles al casco. Luego comencé con la colocación de los fotograbados a medida que corregía y agregaba otros detalles a las torretas y puente de mando. Más tarde eché mano de la plataforma de los reflectores y la chimenea. Además del set de Tom's Modelworks utilicé sobrantes de otras planchas de fotograbados y realicé algunas mejoras en scratch. Ahora resta realizar el puente de popa y demás detalles previo a comenzar con la pintura.
First of all, what I did was re-engrave the whole planking of the decks, which were wrong. I also corrected the shape of the bow and stern, removed the anchors engraved on the plastic and added some details to the hull. Then I started with the addition of photoetched parts as I corrected and added other details to the turrets and bridge. Later I took the platform of the searchlights and the funnel. In addition to the set of Tom's Modelworks I used leftovers from other photoetched sheets and made more scratch improvements. Now it remains to make the aft bridge and other details before starting with the painting.
Continuando con el armado, últimos detalles antes de la pintura. Una vez finalizado el montaje y detallado de la chimenea y la plataforma de reflectores, continué con con el mástil y puente de popa, lo que demandó bastante trabajo debido a la complejidad del mástil. Además agregué las anclas, la catapulta y grúa, todas piezas del set de Tom's Modelworks. Luego de terminar con los últimos detalles comenzaré a pintar el modelo.
Continuing with the building, the last details before painting. After completing the assembly and detailing of the funnel and the searchlight platform, I continued with the mast and stern bridge, which required a lot of work due to the complexity of the mast. I also added the anchors, catapult and crane, all parts form the Tom's Modelworks set. After finishing with the last details I will begin to paint the model.

Una vez terminados los trabajos de armado del modelo comencé con la pintura. En primer lugar apliqué imprimación, utilizando One Shot de AMMO. El color del buque es el IJN Gray de Tamiya, completando los detalles con colores de la misma marca y también de Humbrol. Luego de dada la pintura base desgasté el modelo con óleos.
Once finished the building of the model I started with the painting. First I applied a coat of primer, using AMMO's One Shot. The color of the ship is the IJN Gray from Tamiya, completing the details with colors of the same brand and also from Humbrol. Once I had given the base paint, I weathered the model with oils.
