Con este modelo retomo la construcción de kits tradicionales luego de haber incursionado en los modelos impresos en 3D con el ARA Sarandí y el ARA Drummond. Se trata esta vez del submarino clase "U" de origen británico que prestara servicio en la armada polaca durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial, teniendo un destacado accionar en aguas del Mediterráneo.
With this model I return to the building of traditional kits after having ventured into 3D printed models with ARA Sarandi and ARA Drummond. This time it's the British "U" class submarine that served in the Polish Navy during World War II, having an outstanding action in Mediterranean waters.

Como siempre, antes de empezar con la cosntrucción del modelo, les comparto algunas imágenes del kit. A simple vista un modelo simple, de pocas piezas, acompañado por una plancha de calcas y otra de fotograbados, que permiterán un mejor detallado del buque. En cuanto a las calcas, éstas ofrecen dos versiones del ORP Sokoł (1941 y 1944) o la posibilidad de realizar el ORP Dzik. Más adelante les compartiré los primeros pasos en la construcción.
As always, before starting with the building of the model, I share some images of the kit. At first glance, a simple model, with few pieces, accompanied by a sheet of decals and another of photo-etched parts, which will allow a better detail of the ship. As for the decals, they offer two versions of the ORP Sokoł (1941 and 1944) or the possibility of making the ORP Dzik. Soon I will share the first steps of the building.

A pesar de tratarse de un modelo de muy pocas piezas, de simple armado en apariencia, la complejidad la aporta el defectuoso encastre las partes. Especialmente la proa. Eso demoró el trabajo de construcción del modelo más de lo esperado ya que tuve que masillar y lijar en demasía las uniones para lograr la mejor apariencia posible. Sorteada esa dificultad, el resto del kit pude armarlo sin incovenientes. Como parte del detallado, reemplacé las escaleras de la vela, moldeadas en inyección en la misma pieza, por otras de fotograbado. Luego coloqué los fotograbados que aporta el kit, escogiendo la versión de 1944 del ORP Sokoł.
En conclusión el kit es muy simple, fácil de armar, pero con la excepción del trabajo de masillado y lijado que hay que realizar en los encastres.
Despite being a model with very few pieces, apparently simple to assemble, the complexity is provided by the poor fit of the parts. Especially the bow. That took the build work on the model longer than expected as I had to fill and sand the joints a lot to get the best look possible. Overcome that difficulty, I was able to assemble the rest of the kit without inconvenience. As part of the detailing, I replaced the ladders of the conning tower, which are injection molded, with photo-etched ones. Then I placed the photo-etched parts provided by the kit, choosing the 1944 version of the ORP Sokoł.
In conclusion, the kit is very simple, easy to assemble, but with the exception of the filling and sanding work that must be done on the joints.

Luego de haber concluído la construcción del modelo, con los inconvenienentes de encastre referidos, di comienzo a la pintura. Para ello, como habitualemente hago, apliqué el imprimante gris One Shot de AMMO. Luego, para representar al submarino en la versión escogida, pinté la obra viva de color rojo óxido de Sicko, y la parte superior del casco y superestructuras con azul 77 de Humbrol. No obstante la referencia de pinturas indica aplicar el azul 104, yo escogí el anterior dado que me parece más apropiado a la escala. Durante el enmascaramiento del casco sufrí el desprendimiento de parte de la pintura de la obra viva, pero afortunadamente pude solucionarlo sin inconvenientes. Los desgastes, como de costumbre, los realicé con óleos.
After having finished the building of the model, with the fitting inconveniences referred to, I began the painting. To do this, as I usually do, I applied AMMO's One Shot gray primer. Then, to represent the submarine in the chosen version, I painted the lower hull with Sicko Rust Red, and the upper hull and superstructures Humbrol Navy Blue 77. Despite the painting reference indicates to apply Humbro lOxford Blue 104, I chose the previous one since it seems me more appropriate to the scale. During the masking I suffered the detachment of part of the paint from the lower hull, but fortunately I was able to solve it without problems. The weathering, as usual, I did it with oils.
