El Thor fue un buque de defensa costera sueco, que prestó servicio entre 1896 y 1937. Para construirlo nuevamente echo mano de un modelo de resina de la marca Fairy Kikaku. De la misma forma que cuando realicé el São Paulo, es un kit que demanda muchísimo trabajo para mejorarlo, con la ventaja que este es bastante más pequeño y con menos piezas.
The Thor was a Swedish coastal defense ship, which served between 1896 and 1937. To build it, I use again a resin model from Fairy Kikaku. In the same way as when I made the São Paulo, this is a kit that demands a lot of work to improve it, with the advantage that this is much smaller and with fewer parts.

La presentación del kit contiene las piezas, con muchísimos excedentes de resina y las hojas de instrucción. Además ofrece los pescantes en fotograbados más un Ju86K, también de resina. Lo primero que debí hacer es retirar las rebabas excesivas del casco y unir las tres partes que lo conforman, rellenando los huecos de las uniones con plástico y masilla. Por otro lado, construí algunas partes en scratch para reemplazar las piezas del kit más defectuosas. También debí recurrir a sobrantes de otros modelos para mejorar el buque, así como fotograbados de diversa procedencia.
The presentation of the kit contains the pieces, with many surpluses of resin and the instruction sheets. It also offers PE boat davits plus a Ju86K, also made of resin. The first thing I had to do is to remove the excessive burrs from the hull and join the three parts that make it up, filling the holes in the joints with plastic and putty. On the other hand, I built some scratch parts to replace the most defective kit pieces. I also had to use kitbashed parts to improve the ship, as well as PE from different sources.
Siguiendo con el detallado del modelo. Construí los mástiles en bronce y agregué las plataformas de los reflectores, además de otros detalles realizados a partir de piezas provenientes de otros kits. El modelo ya está listo para comenzar con la pintura.
Following with the details of the model. I built the masts with bronze and added the reflector platforms, in addition to other details made from pieces from other kits. The model is now ready to start painting.

Antes de comenzar con la pintura es necesario dar una mano de imprimación para emparejar las superficies, sobretodo luego de haber utilizado tantas partes de origen y materiales diversos. Para ello utilicé One Shot gris de AMMO. La pintura fue realizada con XF-19 de Tamiya para el casco y superestructuras y Brown Yellow 94 de Humbrol para la base del efecto madera de la cubierta. Como siempre, luego hice los desgastes con óleos. Para simular el hielo del agua congelada, lo que hice fue derretir una vela de parafina y una vez que volvió a enfriar y solidificarse la partí en varias partes y pegarla directamente sobre la base. Finalmente apliqué el efecto Agua Cristal de Sicko.
Before starting with the painting it's necessary to apply a primer coat to match the surfaces, especially after having used so many parts from various origins and different materials. For this I used AMMO's One Shot Gray. The painting was done with Tamiya's XF-19 for the hull and superstructures and Brown Yellow 94 from Humbrol for the base for the wooden effect of the deck. As always, then I made the weathering with oils. To simulate the ice of the frozen water, what I did was to melt a paraffin candle and once it cooled again and solidified, I broke it into several parts and glued it directly on the base. Finally I applied Crystal Water effect from Sicko.
